Returning to Bali 14th time in June and 6th visit to Lembongan.
Couple of families travelling over staying Lembongan 1 -14th June.
Cant Wait!
Remembering my first visit to Lembongan 25 years ago when there were
only 2 losmens to choice from. Tarzans on the beach was $1.50 a night or the upmarket government hostel at $5 a night. We chose Tarzans with the communal scoop shower and hole in the ground loo. The beds were hard matteresses with no sheets, no electricity with bamboo blinds to roll down to keep the bugs out at night. The surf was crowded at 8 people and you had to paddle out and in across the minefield of seaweed farms. There were never many tourists there and little english was spoken. Limited menu was on offer and who knows what we were eating. Everyone lost weight at Lembongan.
The trip over took a couple of hours in an old fishing boat with smelly chooks and plenty of seasickness.
The hightlight of the stay was always arak attacks at night followed by vomiting on the beach later. The good old days.
The development and pollution at Lembongan now is very worrying, lets hope it doesnt change too much in the future so our kids can enjoy it as we have.
