I have been in Bali for seven weeks and the weather is totally different to what it was when I lived here a year ago. However, this is the same in Australia I think. It is supposed to be the rainy season but it has only just started. The cyclones have changed everything I think. Also the currents are bringing really bad water to Kuta beach. Last day and today not too bad, but what the real reason is , it is not what is being reported.
Besides deadfish on beach when we are there about 6 a.m. the water sometimes stinks and thee are little golf ball size globules which are sandy but when you tread on them in bare feet or thongs they stay like oil on the bottom and took two days to scrape and soak off the shoes. I think it is oil based by the look of it. Also the sand is blowing on shore and the road was covered the other day. Take pity on the workers on the beach.
HOWEVER, I would not want to be anywhere else, even with numerous plane crashes, ferry disasters, earthquakes, rightly or wrongly, I always feel I am in the right place. Poor Indonesia.
