We are learning Bahasa Indonesian (couldnt find Bahasa Bali) with cd's, flash cards, work book and travel book all from Midian Press. Listen to the cd's in the car and read a few pages each night. Definately need to hear the spoken word (makes the written make more sense). Once you grasp the pronunciation of the alphabet (not that different from ours) it is a lot easier to read the words properly.

The main differences are:

a = u as in up or father
c = ch as in chair
e = e as in egg
i = ee as in sheet
k = ka as in kamar (room)
u = oo as in boot or uang (money) pronounced ooung!

All the rest are pretty much said as in english.

Hope it is of some help.
