First time I came to Bali we got 400 Rupiah for one US Dollar. Then it went up to 600, and to 1,000. Ten years ago it was about 2,000 for one USD before the sh.. hit the fan: moving from 2,000 to 17,000 or so and back to 10,000.
Therefore, timing is everything. But don't complain about 5-star hotels raising their prices as they are all financed with US-Dollar bank loans i.e. their repayment and costs servicing the loans are increasing with the falling Rupiah.
