Hi Serendipity. I am very keen to hear your opinions of Singa air - especially from the perspective of the entire package of the journey, i.e. Adelaide to Singapore, time in Singapore and then on down to Bali and back again (as opposed to just the sitting in the aircraft bit). My next journey to Bali should be late September/early October. I am seriously considering going either with Singapore (via Singa of course) or with Malysia airlines (via KL). To go with Malaysia Biz class will cost about $1000 more than Garuda, but when you factor in around $700 for domestic airfares and overnight accommodation in either Syd or Melb to make the Garuda departure, the cost difference comes back to around $300 - $400. Plus Malaysia is offering a free night's accom in KL. Add to this the fact that Malaysia air will be a genuine Biz class package and it starts to look pretty attractive. Singapore airlines is somewhat less appealing at around $1300 more, but again, if you take into account the fact that you can do a stopover in Singapore, it's not quite as savage as it first appears. If you travel economy with either Malysai or Singapore, the package is every bit as good as almost anything we can get from Garuda or Jetstar...less flight restrictions, no add-on costs for a meal, beverage, movie pillow or blanket (paleeze!) and a real reputation for quality. It's worth a try for sure!
