She actually said "the rooms have gone up $37 per room per night" meaning to me that they cost $37 more than they did previously. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong but to me it doesn't say they cost $37 per room.
You're also assuming that they're twin-sharing. Not everyone does. For those of us who travel solo, that means the entire room increase is absorbed by one person, rather than split in half. That can add up when you like to go to Bali for 3 weeks or so at a time.
Rooms in many popular hotels have gone up somewhat. Mostly through the removal of upgrades and discounts. I believe most hotels will be removing their "stay/pay" bonuses this year, ie "stay 5 nights pay 4 nights" that you see in so many brochures. I'm not sure how accurate that information is, but I did read it somewhere recently. I've done so much reading up on Bali lately though, so I'm no chance of remembering where I actually read it.
