HELP - brisbane to bali

we have a dilema! Want to travel back to Bali in August/ September but very hard to get there from Brisbane. Has anyone booked or travelled from Brisbane? What have you done, do you advise????
Reluctantly looking at Thailand as it is easier to get to and cheap at the moment. Anyones help would be appreciated.
