I don't have a laptop, so taking a computer to Bali isn't an option for me. I live alone, so spend a bit of time on my computer when I'm bored, but I find I just don't miss it when I'm in Bali.
I quite like keeping a travel journal the old fashioned way, and I have them from each of my trips so far, all lined up on my bookshelf. There's something to be said for kicking back on your balcony with a cold Bintang and writing up the day's events - or previous day's events if you staggered home to bed in no condition for making a journal entry, lol.
I usually pop into an internet cafe every few days to send an email home and check in with family (I usually travel solo so it keeps them happy if I stay in touch).
As for pics, I take two large capacity memory cards and have yet to fill them completely. If you do, you can always get them burned to CD at one of many photo shops or net cafes. I don't usually upload my pics anywhere until I get home again.
Most net cafes are pretty cheap. Some of the small dodgy looking ones have great fast connections, but they all have good and bad days.
