I contacted my bank (Bankwest),regarding using my mastercard which is linked to both a credit account as well as my bank account.

They told me:
1. I can't access my bank account in Bali with it.

2. If I use my card to withdraw cash from an ATM I wil be charged 20.9%

3. If I use it to make purchases I will be charged 8.99%.

Probably not all banks are the same, but...

I'm taking cash and travellers cheques.
