the number of times I had to explain to family overseas that we couldn't locate their loved one, that "they're staying somewhere in Kuta" just wasn't sufficient to find them.
If half of the Australians who were in Bali in 2002 had either registered their contact details with DFAT or had left accurate itineraries with their friends and/or family at home, our work would have been much less after the bomb.
If you don't want to register with DFAT, then at least leave your itinerary with dates and places, with friends AND family.
