Australia opens visa center
DENPASAR, Bali: The Australian Embassy has opened a new Visa Application Center in Denpasar, Bali, for those intending to travel to Australia.
During the opening ceremony on Tuesday, Jim O' Callaghan, the Australian Regional Director for Immigration, said the center would enhance the country's services to Indonesian visitors.
"Ninety-seven percent of all visa applications are successful. We have one of the fastest turn-around times for granting visas in the world," the minister said.
Each year more than 60,000 visas are issued to Indonesian citizens traveling to Australia - a top business and tourist destination and also a popular destination with Indonesians intending to study abroad.
The opening of the Bali visa center follows the opening of a similar center in Jakarta last November.-- JP
