If you are a platinum FF with qantas you get more baggage allowance (even if you fly with jetstar) you are also eligable for free upgrades to starclass (at the discretion of the staff upon arrival).
You have to fly a lot to get to platinum. 2 x trips to spain and about 40 return flights to canberra or sydney from adelaide in a 12mth period will get you platinum FF, if you belong to the program
