I have just spoken to jetstar again they told me that you need to claim you bags and take them through customs. Then when you clear customs there is a counter for transfers you tell them you have a connecting flight to brisbane and they transfer them to the other terminal.. I was wondering that wuestion myself i am traveling in oct via sydney and dont want the hassel of bags aswell. I hope this helped..
