However more often the deal is that the boss gets a set amount and the driver gets whatever he can make over and above that amount. So if he negotiates more, it is his to keep. Actually the 'boss' is just more or less the owner of the car, so what he gets is equivalent to the car hire, out of which he has to maintain the vehicle, recoup his investment etc.
But your system is a good one as it works both ways for the driver.
