I went snorkeling for the first time around 3 years ago and I'm in my 60s.
I would suggest going into one of the dive shops and tell them you would like to snorkel, they will take you along with the divers so that you can snorkel while they are diving.
Most of the do a 2 stop trip rom Sanur beach to Nusa Lebongan and Nusa Penida, Nusa Penida I thought was fantastic with beautiful coral and thousands of fish.
I am off to Bali next week and will be almost certainly going again.
