as Ron has painted. The prospective marriage (or fiance) visa is granted regularly to mixed Indo/Australian couples. You need to look on the Department of Immigrations website (http://www.immi.gov.au/) to see what documentation is required. One of the most important things is to show evidence of your ongoing relationship with your girlfriend (cards, letters, emails, phone accounts etc).
