went to bali on qantas via perth feb 3rd flight from adelaide to perth uneventful except most of big day out artists were on plane so it was pretty full.
spotted a few artists myself made the daughter jealous;
perth to denpassar uneventful food awful to say the least seats small and squashy must really go buisness next time but ah well at least on the b..... y plane

voa no hassels paid in american dollars.
then nice warm air and smells of bali hit you as you go out the door was like comming home again,
driven to pelangi hotel in semminyak arrived and greeted like an old friend from the staff.

shown to room hubby went straight out to the little deli to get supplies of bintang and softdrink to go with the duty free which was purchased in perth for consumption in bali

dinner time after a quick dip in the pool nice and clean and welcoming.
well what can i say first night in bali and we were tired after leaving adelaide so early for flights to bali
went to a small warung around the corner from pelangi hubby had nasi goreng and of course bintang while i had the satays and spring rolls. mmmmmmmmm nice sorry cant recall the name of the warung.
was disapointed to find warung 69 where we have eaten frequently to be closed for renovations spoke to the owner who said he was unsur eif he would re open so i guess that the downturn in tourists is hurting the resturants as well.

day 2 woke to a beautiful sunny but overcast day at 6 am gosh still on aussie time
strolled down the beach to watch the locals fishing and running while waiting for the included breakfast buffett. breakfast was a treat
cooked eggs anyway you wanted and all the juice toast, ceral and hot food anyone could want
hubby had omlettes most days cooked to perfection.
staff were attentive and wonderful in presentation.
off on the shuttle to kuta for the obligatory dvd shops, just as well i had ordered them through H thanks to the BTF for the information on that one.
thought the market was a little lack lustre or is it because i have bought just about everything and have no small children to buy for.

returned to the hotel and went swimming until late in the after noon and read my book and a nanna nap while hubby watched a dvd.

dinner at Bennys seafood which was a little on the expensive side but nice\.

hit the sack early about 9pm as was exhausted.

this set the scene for most of the ten days were were there except hubby went fishing one day and was most disapointed due to the lack of action.

the locals were complaining that the unseasonally hot weather was causing a lot of fish to be washed up on the shore of semminyak beach as the reef was catching the fish causing them to die.

other places that we ate at were
indo national very nice food well priced met the owners kerry and milton a couple of aussies who boast aussie resturant and aussie cleanliness. great place highly recomended this one.
Lucky day in Seminyak very well priced and nice serves of food guaranteed to fill anyone even my husband who is a very big eater at meal times.
also at at syrya candra in legian jl opposite paddy's pub. looks like a dive from the front but food was great the most expensive of our stay and as it was the last night wanted something more special.

hubby's birthday we went to the beachfront in sanur and ate again wonderful meal great atmosphere and good prices.

highlight of the trip would be meeting some aussies from perth who we sort of matched up with and went places with for meals great company and great people.

driver we used our mate alex who is doing it tough like all drivers in bali can post his contact if anyone interested. clean car aircon good prices.

clothes made from janoko tailors in poppies lane 2 thanks again to the btf suits for hubby $70 each and he is a big man they fixed them until they were right and pants for no1 son at 15 each coppied.

beach sellers in bali were not too pushy and remembered me from last year as a token of friendship with 3 women who are all related and gave hubby great massages and manicures we gave them all a sack of rice each as some days they were not getting any buisness. this i know as they spent the day talking with us instead and of course all the toiletries ect that i did not want to take home with me.

downside was the market in melasti jl the sellers were rude and very pushy i guess because they havnt had sales for very long and this approach i did not like so we did not go back there only visited once.
preferred to buy things from the art market through a friend which i met many years ago when she was working at the kartika plaza before they all got the sack.

if anyone has unused clothes both men and women and childrens as well as shoes it is worth it to remember the hawkers will use them if you dont want them all for the sake of carrying the clothes to bali

i guess the most enjoyable about going to bali the friendliness and the feeling of being home when going to the island and also going to a place where the staff know you and are willing to help you all they can.
home on qantas after a 5 hour wait in perth what a pain that was to sit in the airport after leaving bali after midnight with no sleep hubby by this stage was a little fracticious and very tired. plane was full from bali and perth to adelaide. bought a picture which was electronic from ace hardware shop also had sounds on it when got into perth it was smashed was not happy jan. i told qantas it was fragile and stickers were placed on the item i guess fragile means lets play footy withit mmmmmm that was not good.
cheers sharon

ps went on the touristy thing and went to the elephant park thought it was ok but the show was something that i expected to see in the circus not a park. went to lovinia which was unremarkable.

pps cant wait until next year planning already and looking at specials just wish they would go from adelaide.
