Extract from my JBR of Dec 06 re Orphanage for disabled children at Gianyar (about 10 mins drive from Ubud). If you wish to go there contact fabulous driver Gusti Yodya at email gstngr_yod@yahoo.com

Visited the disabled children's Orphanage at Gianyar, took the musical instruments for the deaf (lol) rice, noodles, tea, sugar, oil etc but didn't advise them in advance that we were coming this time. The kids were clean & well dressed & pleased to see us again. We note from the visitors book that about 18 visitors had called in since our last trip in July. Previously only 3 groups had called in there over about 4 months. Had a laugh at MT's expense when one of the kids touched MrsC's ample belly & signalled a 'rocking the baby' motion. No, MT says just too much food. Lol. When last we were there 5 YO twin girls were there & 1 twin was born with a deformed face so the parents placed both girls in the orphanage even tho the other twin was perfectly normal. It was great to hear that the deformed girl was in Adelaide courtesy of Rotary International for a series of operations at the Cranio facial unit. WELL DONE ROTARY.
