Customs Melb or Syd

Hi all just a quick question. Leaving Melbourne to Sydney then Sydney to Bali with JetStar. Do we go through customs in Melb or Sydney? From what I can gather the flight to Sydney would be a domestic flight and therefore would not go through Customs till we get to Sydney. Cheers Gary
