in July with my son who bodyboards. As you said depending on the day. He was surfing out there when he was 10 years old with out any problems, the couple of days we went out there it was about 5ft, and he had no problems. There are a few rocks but they are over in the corner. YOu should be right with your nephews. It is easy to access and not so crowded but that could have changed over the last couple of years. There are Warungs out there to eat at. There has been a big complex being built out there for years and was on stand still for a while but apparently they are building there again. Go out there and try.
