I don't know much about the new regs so I'm going to have to wing it same as you lol. I'm thinking that if you buy it after you check in and get boarding passes it doesn't count... same as my duty free Bacardi. You might want to ring the airport to see if they stock your tipple.
We have flown Pacific Blue (same regs as Jetstar which is 'bring your own jam butties' to the South Pacific a couple of times and you can take food and soft drinks to consume on board. However, it is not permitted to drink your own alcohol on board any aircraft. But then it won't bother you as you don't drink lol.
Have only once been caught short and that was our last trip to Bali when our plane was delayed until 2pm the next day. All I had in our hand luggage was 3 bloody baskets with nets lids.Fat lot of good they were. No shampoo, conditioner, tooth brush/paste, deodorant and no clean boggy knickers... What's a woman to do but panic!!!
