I would never presume to ask to visit the child's home. If an invitation were extended, I would accept and be extremely honoured, but I would never expect it, nor would I ask about it.
I'm more than happy to meet my sponsor child in a neutral location such as the school - or as it has happened to date, the distribution day. I also met his father who was a lovely man but we had limited ability to communicate with each other, so our chat was brief.
