Children and ill people are at risk. Mosquito repellent is excellent. Any fevers that come quickly should be investigated. When any sort of fever hit one of my three (then) children, paracetamol usually brought it down quickly. When it didn't, I took them to the doctor immediately and found they had dengue fever. They were then around 8, 4 and 2 years old. They just needed to rest and take plenty of fluids - the best were a sport drink over there, Pokari Sweat (unfortunate name) and a juice which is easily available in Bali.
As with all things, particularly with children, don't leave it as long as you would at home to check out. Most times, the symptoms of whatever they have can be alleviated before any dehydration sets in.
