It is too easy to keep taking the anti-diarrhoeal medication when it is no longer required in fear of the diarrhoea coming back, resulting in constipation. The point I was trying to make is to stop taking the Imodium or Lomotil if the diarrhoea has stopped. If you are no longer having ANY bowel actions for a couple of days (based on the average person having a motion once a day) then try increasing your fibre intake - grain breads, fruit, vegies, legumes, brown rice, etc. If that doesn't work, then consider trying a mild aperient or laxative, but at a reduced dose.
