Be sure to ask for them to not do the braids too tight. I got mine done there to beat the heat and I ended up taking them out in about 12 hours as it was way too tight and giving me headaches.
How long is her hair? Perhaps she'd be better off getting one or two french braids done to keep her hair back and out of the way, and keep cool. Most of the braiding ladies will do french braids at a fairly cheap price. Much easier to take out than the tiny fiddly little braids, and less likely to hurt her scalp.
