I have had hair extensions done in the past and left mine in for a month, but could have left them in longer. In regards to taking the extensions out after a while you will be able to tell where the real hair meets the extension. Just cut the extension below your real hair and then you can undo them. I use conditioner and a tooth pick to undo mine and it might be an idea to invite a friend or relative over for a drink and nibblies for a bit of extra help so it doesn't take as long :-) They can be undone without the additional cost from hiring a hairdresser to do it for you.
