We stayed at the Ramayana several years ago and it was good. (Ate breakfast outside hotel though). Its central to a lot of things, opposite Kuta Art markets, near Matahari shopping centre and a short walk to Jl.Legian or Waterbom Park in the other direction.
Jayakarta is by all accounts a good hotel, but its a long way from the "action" of Legian/Kuta/Tuban.
It all depends on what you want to do,veg out or see/do the sights. We treat the hotel as a base to clean up and sleep or recharge the batteries, thats why we chose location the last two times with Ramayana(Tuban) and then White Rose(Kuta). We're going to try Samsara next, and then keep moving north so we get to know the whole area. Thats the plan anyway.
