Your booking is confirmed at the time you book & pay, if doing it online.
If you want to double-check the confirmation, go to the Jetstar homepage. Below the orange 'book here' bit there is an area that says 'Check or Change my Booking'. Type in your booking reference number & the rest of your details as prompted. When the new page appears, it will have your booking with a big 'confirmed' all over it. Then close the window.
