Exotic Stone on Grange Road was moving to Unley when I last spoke with the owners pre-xmas.

Colleen queried why we are well catered for in the south. I guess
these 'Bali' type shops are often located around beach areas and 'well-heeled' suburbs. Beach areas often attract tourists, have more traffic through or people who are willing to pay / have the disposable incomes. House of Java on Unley Road is a classic example of being over priced. However, it is a gorgeous shop, the stock beautifully presented and what needs to be said about the suburb - Unley = $$$$'s.

I live south and there have been several shops open around here over the years. Some business survive because they target the right market at the right price with the right stock.

Some people start up with a vision / dream in mind, but no clearly thought out business plan. Some people are just greedy and think ooh cost $1 in Bali, I can sell back here for $20 and make a killing so I can go back to Bali. Sometimes it is a success and other times a failure. I know of 3 that have failed in the last 12 months.

And Bob is correct, it's worth visiting Tony down at Myponga Markets. If he doesnt have what you want he is generally willing to source for you on his next trip. He did this for me when my Ganesha statue was stolen about 12 months ago. cheers :-)
