Back in 1986 I was laying on the beach near the art markets, sunning myself, and enjoying my 10th Bintang besar, when it became instantly cloudy, and started to snow heavily.
In order to move some of the beach sellers equipment, a grading machine was brought in to act as a snow plough.
Within an hour, the transport touts were on the streets promoting toboggan tours to a new ski resort opened on the Bukit Peninsular.
All this was most inconvenient, as I had only taken light clothing with me.
Since this experience (the ski jump facility in Tuban has since closed) I always take thermal clothing and a beanie with me....just in case.
