We went around Bali with our rented car... we checked the main stores in Jln Kerobokan (Geneva, Christy's & Kenny's).... also all along the Bypass Ngurah Rai.... there are soooo many furniture places, its hard to keep track (unless you're there for longer than a month!).... we found what we were looking for on the stretch going to Sanur... at some of these shops I don't think they speak many foreign languages (even English)... so they are not targeting tourists too hard... So if u can get by with passable Bahasa Indonesia (or if u have a local friend to go with u), you can get some pretty rock-bottom prices!!!!

As for freight forwarders, do a big scout... my hubby emailed the ones in the Bali Advertiser and other tourist mags for quotations and they all replied with varying amounts (e.g. from US$ 85 - US$ 310 for the same cubic metre... for our shipment to Port Klang)...

There is an extra charge for fumigation if required....
And you will need a clearing agent at your end....

For us, it still works out to half the amount we'd have to pay if we bought on homeground. Hope this helps.

Nina
