Check out the archives for reports about the Aston. Good value for money - but don't eat or drink inside the hotel. Breakfast is a large buffet and plenty of variety.
There are a number of cheap eateries and drinking places nearby. Supermarket across the road was selling large Bintangs for around 12,000rp in October last year. The pool and surrounds are spectacular.
The spa treatment is sensational. Free daily shuutle bus to Kuta.
Taxis just outside the door.
I've stayed there twice - love the place and the staff. Great area for the kids - it feels safer and less crowded than downtown Kuta (not that Kuta is bad).
Checked out the Oasis (its next door) and it is not as good (cheaper though). Breakfast is ordinary and the pool is more of a lap pool than a regular one if you know what I mean. I used to refer to the place as the German Bunker, I guess its the minimalist look.
There is a great warong between the two hotels that serves ice cold Bintangs for 16,000rp. They are about 32,000rp inside. Very popular place to meet the local hawkers and characters.
Check out the archives on the Aston for further reviews. There are plenty.
