Yeh, a great place for a family. We have been there there 16 times and have nothing but praise for this hotel. Have a look at balihai-resort.com (with the "Dubs" in front) and you will have a comprehensive site to browse through. In particular look at "accomodation" which gives you a really good plan of each class of room and "Location" which shows the layout of the hotel, gardens, pool and where each room is situated.
For a family such as yours, either a Family room 6101 - 3 or 6201 - 3, one of the "Balihai Suites" at buildings 16 - 18 or room 1160 which is referred to in an earlier post (days ago by Yappa).
In the near vicinity there are 5 good restaurants, all with good food but varying price levels, a number of small shops and bout 1km away "Pepitos" an excellent supermarket where you can buy kids food as well as some nice delicacies.
You can walk along the beacg to Kuta or take the daily shuttle. BaliHai provides transfers gratis, the staff are sensational, gardens very well maintined and the traders have a little area where they may conduct their sales, massages, manicures or braiding under the shade of trees.
The kiddies club is also very good and is conducted very professionally.
I hope this is of help to you and I have allowed my email addy to be shown if you want further info.
I will be at Balihai between 31st March and 14th April this year and can update if required.
