...ha ha how much is too much. Bali can be a very cheap holiday ( my first trip i had $250 and ate lobsters daily, addmittingly it was in 84)
The food is cheap!!! But depends on what you eat too. If your going to live off Macca's, Pizza Hut, Seafood and eat in the more upmarket resturants every day then your food will be alot dearer than sticking to local resturants etc.
If you plan on buying clothes, DVD's, shoes, handbags, jewellery then the skys the limit!!! Bali is a shop til you drop kinda place and although everything is very reasonably priced, its the variety of whats available thats the killer.
I travel there upto 3 times a year to buy for my shop and am often accompanied by friends, most usually take between $500 - 800 for upto 8 days.
It is always best to have a plan B!!! Perhaps a small amount on a EFTPOS card that you know will work in Bali in case of emergencies ( just one more tshirt, watch, bag).
Get the kids to start saving too!!!!
You will have a ball.
