You can buy extra weight before you go at a discounted rate - $12 a kilo rather than the $15 they charge at the airport. The catch is that you buy in 5/10kg lots. I got 5kg extra for $60 as I didnt want the stress of going over, had a strong feeling I would be over 20kg though had no intention of going over 25kg but you know how it is.
It can be arranged by calling Jetstar, or if you bought your tickets whilst logged in as a member you can do online. Only book the return journey - they did try and get me to book both ways. They resent the itinerary but it never indicated the extra was for Denpasar to Sydney but I made two separate calls and both confirmed it was on the system.
In regard to them not finding it on the system I think I was on one of the first Jetstar flights back so it may be that the Bali airport staff are still learning. Have a great trip in January.
