It depends?

I have experienced both cases eg a 2005 booking was in USD on Visa card whilst a 2006 booking was in AUD on Mastercard.
For the former the value of the booking was locked into USD at the USD/AUD conversion rate at time of booking - since the AUD improved between the booking date & the charging date I actually saved several dollars.
In any case the values always balanced out and if it is charged in AUD then there is no further conversion charge. Note that they ALWAYS have the transaction value authorised against your card - thus lowering your credit (or balance) available on your card until either the charge is made or 3 to 4 days elapse.

The only problem I have with Asiarooms is that they often advertise low rates that they have difficulty fulfilling - particularly if you book more than 2 months in advance.
