Hello All, well where to start, ther is sssooo much info. Six of us set of from Perth on the 11th December, we are all in the same lacrosse team so it was decided way back well over 100 sleeps ago that we would go to Bali and hopefully we would be still celebrating our Grand Final win. Well we didn't win the GF (we lost by 3 goals) but we definately had a great loser's party......and we decided that if we could make it through our Bali trip together then we will give the Grand Final another nudge next year. Only half the team could come to Bali so 3 newby's and 3 oldies (two really oldies)set of on our adventure.
We arrived at the Bounty and a usual we had the normal Bali Hotel run around like they only had standard rooms when we had paid for superior rooms ect ect but all in all the hotel was good, clean, staff were lovely, although i didn't think that much of the breakfast. I have stayed at the Melasti and other hotel's before and although heaps of people used to bag their breakfast i thought the Melasti was 100% better than the Bounty's, i mean it wasn't awful, I have just had better !! My only other whinge would be that the Bounty didn't have a CD player in the main pool area so the same songs went over and over on the pre recorded hard drive but often we would get them to put a CD on in the other pool if we want a change of senery.
For the first couple of days we did the usual settling in things like beach shopping, Geneva, Denpasar night Markets and the newbies got the feel of it in no time at all....they absolutely loved it!!!
Geneva was great shopping as usual and i purchased some great things for the house, just nic nacs, some trays with lids, a blanket ect. I think everyone was wrapped with ther purchases, one of the girls bought a really nice print from their..
One of the best and cheapest meals we had was at the Mini Bar in Legian St. It has a big sign (billboard above it) and it is opposite a couple of surf shops in Legian St. We actually went back their on our last night and they do the best everything as far as Indonesia and Balinese food...really superb. (could of done without the couple of manky cats thet were walking around under the table though) the waitress soon shhhooed them away.
We also had a good meals at Glory's on Legian St and Bagus Pub in Poppies 2.
By day four everyone was definately in party mode and a couple of the girls had all nighters and dayers !!! (can't keep up with that!!)We spent a day at water bomb park and we purchased our tickets at the bounty before we left and saved 20% per ticket. It was a great day but by about 3 O'clock a couple of the girls had itchy feet because they had not purchased anything for the day !!! so of they went to spend more. While we are on spending i'm sure all of us budgeted approx $100.00 a day (a couple of us more than that!!)We tried to spread it around as much as we could as the locals are very desperate peolpe and i feel really sorry for Bali and the locals that are doing it hard, some local shops though really hounded us but i suppose that is to be expected.
One of the girls (a newby) got really sick with Bali Belly and we had to get the doctor to her, poor thing she was in a pretty bad way but the doc gave her more drugs than i've ever seen and she forced all of them down...(and up again !!) but she really didn't come good after that. I think that she lost the only kilo or two that she had left on her tired body!! She tried really hard after that but never really come good. Another three of us got the odd few cramps and had to stay near the loo for approx 24 hours but it wasn't anything like bali belly, I have had that before and i really felt sorry for our sick friend as home is such a long way away when you are that crook !!!
Of a night after dinner we visted Paddy's a few times and the bounty ship, some stayed out later than others and a good time was had by all. One of the newbies did walk home really late one night and boy did she get into trouble for that !! i mean girls really is it that hard to get your butt in a taxi and part with about $3.52 (25,000 rph)and thats giving the cabby a massive tip. Not only did this newbie walk to the hotel but proceeded to tell us she went the wrong way for about 10 minutes before she realised. HHHEEELLLOO forgive me if i'm wrong but is it safe to walk the streets at night or is it because a couple of us are mothers that we are a little more sensitive.
Part two to follow soon, Merry Christmas to all and be safe....
