The market is still definitely only Wednesday and Sunday mornings and well worth a trip ip interested in authentic Balinese actiities. There is no provision for tourists at all and all for sale is for the local market. There is a huge range of things for sale from textiles, clothes, kitchen gear, tools, medicines, fish, birds etc, and of course the cattle market which is the reason for the market being there. The cattle part needs good footwear and no aversion to poo but is an interesting experience - all live cattle sold by auction or some private bargaining. There can be 100's sold each day. A highlight is to watch the obat(medicine) sellers in action, even if can't understand the language it is entertaining - I'll always remember one seller pushing his obat to make men larger and more productive more often - almost bought a tablet !
The market is at the junction of the main west road to Tabanan and the road up to Mengwi and Bedugal. It is a long way from Ubud and about 45 minutes from Legian.
