I seem to remember seeing something a while ago where Qantas advised that they were not happy with security at DPS and were conducting the extra security. Terrorists don't appear to worry about children, so ‘frisking' of them is also a necessary evil in these times. The end of the day, as been mentioned before on this post, I would rather be frisked and know that everyone has taken all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of the aircraft and your return trip.
Yes it's a pain. But a pain I would rather put up with if the authorities deem appropriate. BUT...another thought. The infamous Bali 9 - didn't they get all the was to the gates before they were detected?
While it's not frisking as such, I have been stopped several times in Australian airports and had the explosives wand passed over me and tested. I must look suspicious, or it could be that my bintan storage unit looks like it could hide more that the sparkling nectar
