because the officals truly believe that someone is carrying explosives or whatever then to do it in a public, crowded, confined, inescapable place like a departure lounge would have to be the most dangerous act ever. If detection is imminent, why not blow up the departure lounge? The other thing that worries me is how you could get all the way to the departure lounge without your weapons or explosives being discovered. Its a bit late by then I think!
