Take your own currency and change it in Bali. The exchange rate varies (sometimes several times a day), and you'll get a much better rate if you change it as you need it. Keeping in mind that the exchange rate for Aussie dollars is about 7,000 to 1, you'd need an extra suitcase to stuff all that Indonesian currency into (lol)!
