We have stayed in the area a few times. We go there for the surf. Depend on your budget but the Medewi Hotel on the right at the end of the road is nice. We haven't stayed there but have used the pool and restaurant. We couldn't negotiate under $70US, and being on a budget we opted for a homestay at the end of a road just before the Medewi turn off.
We have also stayed at Baliaan, which is about 40minutes before Medewi and stayed at Baliaan sirf bungalows. It is one bungalow on its own, overlooking a cow paddock and then the surf in front. The bungalow is 3 storey and you can have either the downstairs room which has singles in it, bathroom and kitchen area with a fridge, or the top 2 storeys with a king single and a lovely open bedroom on the top floor with a double. We stayed in the top storeys for 150,000rp for a family of four.
