It is marvellous how people can make numbers lie. All the facts pointing to this "record increase" have been taken SINCE 2002. In 2006, October and November are the only months to have shown a tourism increase on last year. By using exactly the same chart as the tourism board used to show this "record increase", it is possible to see that tourism in Bali was down by over 200,000 in the first 9 months of this year.
When you take 22,000 people per month off of the streets of Bali, it is quite easy to see why the Kuta fanatics are saying the place is dead. Figures come from this web site.
