We took our grandaughter to Bali when she was 7 months and then again when she was 18 months (we have just come back from Bali on Sat and she is now 3).
What we did the first 2 times was go to the supermarket and buy a very large plastic bowl. The one we got was VERY BIG. We would put Tay into it with some warmish bottled water ( put the kettle on and warm it up a bit just to take the chill off it)and put her on the verandah and she would splash away and have a great time. That way everything is clean and they stay put and you dont have to worry. She also loved the pool but the bowl was great for bathing or just playing in it with toys and a snack, no water of course then. When it was time to come home we just gave it to a new mum or mum to be.
This time as she was older we just drilled her about putting her fingers in her mouth and she was really good about it all.
