What assumptions would you be talking about? Your statement is pretty specific:
"If people truly cared about poverty in Bali. They would use their holiday money to assist in the infrastructure of Bali and to move away from the heavy dependance on tourism"
So I would asume that:

a)You care about poverty in Bali (and if you don't you must be talking about other people caring)

b)That you use your holiday money to assist in the infrastructure of Bali (and if you don't you must be talking about other people doing it)

So if you are doing what you say people who care about poverty in Bali should be doing, then I applaude you.
Further as I said in my previous posting if this is the case than it stands to reason that you are using your holiday money for that noble purpose you propose than you are not spending it on holidaying in Bali.
Seems pretty straight forward.
