We had originally planned to eat out every second night but with some good advice from a Brit/Aussie couple (That Girl!) we were happily eating at 'Mama's Warung' in Nusa Dua. This locals place is about 100m to the right of the first intersection (past the 'Warung Muslim') outside the southern gate of the Nusa Dua resort area. Mama speaks almost no English and the menus are in Indonesian. That's just a part of the fun as far as I'm concerned and we wound up eating there just about every second night. It was pretty much our only place for Asian food.
Otherwise we ate western style foods at the hotel, one forgettable place close to the Kuta monument, and one meal at Ye Olde Foo-Kin Pub. That meal was the last dinner of our vacation and we wanted western food and some fun company. The chips could have been drained better but the Real Aussie Burger was a real mans two handed burger. I haven't had one of those for years. We got to the Foo-Kin Pub in time to meet Ricky and have a meal and a couple of bintangs before his 4 times a week bar crawl, uhm, crawled off. It's one of the marvels of Aussie culture that a dozen strangers can get together for a good time, no matter where they meet in the world.
