JBR 6....Shopping we purchased.
A visit to Geneva's gave us a few items for around the home, I found Geneva's to have a few new things but the biggest change was the busload of tourists heading in. Previously I'd been and was the only person in the place. A lot of European's came off the bus so maybe a hotel or enterprising person is doing tours to Geneva. I only purchased a few tin magnets, ladybirds and dragonflies to stick on the outdoor bar fridge and a couple of hanging racks made of tin.
Spectacles purchased for my husband as per previously bought at Optik Seiss in Discovery Mall, no problem not taking the husband as they had all his details.
Umbal Umbal flags from a shop up near Sukawati markets, I got 5 large ones and 6 smaller ones, I'm going to use them near my nut trees to scare off the birds. My husband has put the smaller ones in the ground already but now we need the bamboo or poles for the larger ones.
More metal dragonflies for my fence from SITA fashions in Legian. I also got smaller dolphins this time too.
An unusual item to bring back was the container of Rapika sweet pink formula. It is made by Klin and you add a small amount to your water squirty bottle when ironing. I bought this back in my hand luggage as the container it is in is like the wine cask bags. All my ironing now smells of Bali.
A spur of the moment purchase was my garden ornament made of what Bali calls ceramic and I call pottery. Made of clay it weighed 6.5 kilos and I carried it like a baby onto the plane. I believe it is called a ‘boogie'. You can put a light under and up inside it.
Another unusual item was some lightweight clay for my son, he is into Claymation modelling and I found some in Gramedia, middle floor of Discovery Mall. Customs had a good look but it was more play doh than plastic explosive material!
The usual DVD's, a few clothes from the market stalls, wallet, sunglasses and a bag. I purchased a couple of wooden seagull bird mobiles which customs checked and were both ok. A number of packets of sweets purchased from Makro.
I had a Queen Bed Doona Cover made for my daughter, made out of a shiny blue silky Indian fabric, it came with 2 pillowcases. I also had 2 cushion covers made as throws for the bed. I had these made at a small shop called Total Cushions opposite the Fairy Shop.
A Quiksilver suitcase in Sikh Camo colours with only one opening that needs locking, with wheels and opens up like a book, with the handle completely on the outside so that no-one can slide anything in was purchased from one of the surf shops,
At the enormous sum of 1425000 Rupiah about $210.00 was my major purchase that I've been looking for on the past 3 trips. Each time I have left my old suitcases behind with donations and that is why I had to resort to the red/white/blue stripy bags this time!
Finally found Miss Debby's shop and even though she did do the larger size surf clothing I still didn't think they suited me. I did buy sunglasses and some teenager type clothing and all was fixed price and very reasonable. These were not under the counter surf clothes but behind her shop in her house. The range was huge.
The Fairy Shop had a big day when we got there. Not only did Lena purchase off the rack she placed a large order. She ended up with children's and adults fairy dresses, devils, bumblebees, belly dancer and mermaid outfits. All come with added extras such as shoes, wands, purses, hats, halos and tiaras.
Pearls off the beach, outside the Pantai restaurant in Tuban and outside the Peninsula Beach Resort in Tanjung Benoa. I purchased 3 short necklaces aka Audrey Hepburn, pink, brown and blue and 3 sets matching stud earrings.
