We have been in Bali for just over 4 weeks and they certainly have been fun.(NOT).
During our third week in Sanur my six year old became sick with high temp. after two days with it not going down I got the hotel to call a doctor. He said that Carter had a throat infection but if his temp didnot come down they would need to do blood tests. Anyway that afternoon his temp. was up to 40 degrees so I called doctor back. He came straight away and had blood tests done.
He rang back later that night to say that Carter had Dengue fever and needed to go straight to hospital. After an urgent call to my Balinese friends( He came) straight over the doctor arrived in ambulance and off we went to Kasih Ibu Hospital.
Pediatrician came Carter was admitted and there we stayed for 5 days.
Hospital was good although staff did not speak much english,so lucky that my friends were around to help out.
My mother and older son flew in for a week and Carter was ok. although he was very week for about a week after discharge from hospital.
Things semmed to be going ok and my mum and older son went home on the Sat. night with Carter and I to follow on the Sun.night. But on arrival at airport Carter started to vomit. Manager was called a wheel chair produce and after a tour of the airport we were taken to quarantine to see a doctor.Verdict, we cannot fly.
So back all around through airport pick up luggage and rebook flight and back to hotel.
We spend an extra three days in Bali and are over our visa by 1 day. Get to airport tonight and are taken into a room and told i need to pay $40 US for overstaying visa.
Explain to the guy what had happened and that I was told I would only have to pay $10US. I then told him that was all the money I had, showed him my wallet and he took the 100000rp and let us go.
I think in future I will go with the 60 day visa from Aust.
Anyway we had a good time and cant wait to come back.
