You did the right thing, with the right intentions, and you are in no way responsible for what others say in reply. As has been said, this kind of thing can happen anywhere, in fact this and much worse unfortunately happens in the Perth/Fremantle/Rockingham nightlife areas on a regular basis.
What I find disturbing is how such a person, who is presumably known to the management and staff as a troublemaker, is allowed back onto the premises.
