Stayed at the Patra a few months ago. Got a rate of 555,000 Rp. / night. The rooms are really nice, the whole place has been recently renovated. You are definately doing the right thing by requesting something near the pool, the property is massive. We were placed in some rooms which were right down the back, and it would take us 5 minutes to walk to reception / pool / beach / or even just the exit.
Personally I wouldn't go back there for a few reasons. While its one of the nicest rooms I've stayed in in Bali, with one of the nicest views and pools etc it has several downfalls. Firstly the size of the property if you get placed in a room down the back. Secondly the place was completely dead when we were there, so the restaurants were empty and everything shut pretty early. Thirdly you are literally right next door to the airport (which isnt a problem, you dont hear the planes and you can watch them land while in the pool, on the beach or eating in the cafe) but it becomes a problem when you want to get into town. There are no shops close by so you have to get a cab into Kuta, which can end up costing you up to 100,000 Rp. per day return. You can't just walk anywhere from the hotel. Fourthly, sorry about the list getting big, the room service menu costs quite a lot. I think it was 55,000 Rp. for just a nasi goreng or hotdog, which is nearly unheard of in Indo, and they were the two cheapest items on the menu.
The day spa looked great, but again expect to pay huge $$. The hotel is owned by someone who is involved with the state oil company pertamina, when we were there they had a work conference on.
So yeah great hotel, but take the above into mind. You will love your stay there, its a pretty classy place.
